Hello there! Today I wanna give you a little tip on finding your unique voice.
The keyword here is #allowing. Your singing practice ought to be a safe Haven within the frames of which you feel free to express your Creativity. Don’t judge yourself. If you judge yourself your Creativity cannot flow freely and thus allow your unique and authentic Voice to emerge. Stop obsessing over making mistakes. There are no mistakes when you are looking for your sound. Stop wanting to filter your raw material constantly. You don’t need to sound like someone else either.
Experiment! Find your true essence in your voice. Your voice is supposed to reflect who you are, not what you think would be acceptable or even “needed right now in the industry”. Stop thinking you might be too raw, too unpolished. We don’t throw away a diamond just because it’s raw and we can’t put it right away on a ring, right? We take it to the lab and we clean it and tumble it and shape it. Your raw diamond is your Unique Voice. Allow it to sound terrible, dirty, unpolished at first. That’s exactly the trick: allow it to exist. You can bring it into form later but for now drop the expectation.
Just for now set the intention to allow it all to come to the surface.
And it will. And then you will know it and it will know you and that’s the true essence of singing: allowing.
